Welcome to BrightLock, developed by AHK Production. We are deeply committed to protecting your privacy and providing a transparent, safe, and efficient experience. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding data collection, usage, and your rights when you use the BrightLock application for Android.

2. Data Collection & Usage

At BrightLock, our core philosophy is privacy-first. We do not require users to create an account, nor do we collect, harvest, or sell any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical location.

A. Anonymous Analytics & Telemetry

To improve app performance and understand user preferences, we collect minimal, anonymized usage data (e.g., feature interactions, app launches). This data is completely unidentifiable and is processed securely.

B. Crash Reporting

If the app encounters an error, we collect anonymous crash logs. These logs include device models, OS versions, and stack traces to help us identify and patch bugs rapidly.

C. Subscriptions & Billing

While the app handles premium subscriptions, all payment processing is managed securely by Google Play. We do not have access to your credit card information or financial details.

3. Critical Permissions & Accessibility Service

To deliver BrightLock's core functionality, the app requires specific Android permissions. We are strictly transparent about how these are used:

Accessibility Service API Disclosure

BrightLock utilizes the Android Accessibility Service API exclusively to power our "App-Specific Brightness" feature.

  • Why it is needed: The Accessibility Service allows BrightLock to detect which application is currently visible on your screen (the active window) so it can automatically apply your pre-configured brightness level for that specific app.
  • What it DOES NOT do: BrightLock does not use the Accessibility Service to observe your interactions, screen text, typing data, personal information, or any other sensitive content.
  • Data transmission: The foreground app detection happens entirely locally on your device. Absolutely no data gathered by the Accessibility Service is transmitted, stored, or shared over the internet.
Modify System Settings (WRITE_SETTINGS)

This permission is strictly used to adjust the device's screen brightness according to the parameters and schedules you set within the app. It does not modify any other system parameters.

4. Third-Party Services

To provide a robust app experience, BrightLock integrates with carefully selected third-party services. These services operate under their respective privacy policies:

  • Firebase Crashlytics: Used for real-time crash reporting and stability monitoring.
  • RevenueCat: Utilized to manage and validate in-app subscriptions securely.
  • PostHog: Provides product analytics to help us understand anonymous user engagement.
  • OneSignal: Powers our push notification delivery system.
  • Google Play Services: Required for standard Android operations and billing.

5. Data Storage & Deletion

Because BrightLock does not maintain user accounts or collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII), all your configurations, schedules, and custom settings are stored locally on your device.

Consequently, there is no centralized user profile to delete. If you wish to wipe all data associated with BrightLock, you can simply clear the app data via your Android device settings or uninstall the application. This action will permanently remove all local configurations.

6. Children's Privacy

BrightLock is intended for a general audience. While it contains features like "Child Lock Focus," the app itself is not targeted primarily at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take necessary actions.

7. Changes to This Policy

AHK Production reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page or through an in-app notice.
